Cancellation terms, refund procedures, and weather policies

This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions for cancellations and refunds for yacht rental services provided by Marowyn Yacht Rentals.

1. General Refund Terms

Refunds are processed according to the timing of your cancellation and the specific circumstances involved. All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email or through our customer service department.

2. Client-Initiated Cancellations

The following refund schedule applies to all client-initiated cancellations:

30+ Days Notice

95% Refund
  • Full refund minus 5% processing fee
  • No questions asked cancellation
  • Refund processed within 5-7 business days

15-29 Days Notice

75% Refund
  • 75% of total charter fee refunded
  • 25% retained for operational costs
  • Refund processed within 7-10 business days

7-14 Days Notice

50% Refund
  • 50% of total charter fee refunded
  • 50% retained for crew and operational costs
  • Refund processed within 10-14 business days

48 Hours - 6 Days Notice

25% Refund
  • 25% of total charter fee refunded
  • 75% retained for committed costs
  • Subject to manager approval

Less than 48 Hours

No Refund
  • No refund available
  • Full charter fee retained
  • Exceptional circumstances considered case-by-case

3. Weather-Related Cancellations

3.1 Company-Initiated Weather Cancellations

When Marowyn cancels a charter due to unsafe weather conditions:

Option 1: Reschedule

  • No additional charges for rescheduling
  • New date within 12 months of original booking
  • Same vessel type and package maintained
  • Subject to availability

Option 2: Full Refund

  • 100% refund of all payments made
  • No processing fees deducted
  • Refund processed within 3-5 business days
  • Includes any add-on services paid for

3.2 Weather Decision Criteria

Weather cancellation decisions are based on:

  • Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts
  • Marine weather conditions and warnings
  • Captain's professional assessment
  • Transport Canada safety guidelines
  • Local harbor master recommendations

4. Emergency and Medical Cancellations

We understand that emergencies and medical situations can arise unexpectedly. For qualified emergency cancellations:

Qualifying Emergencies

  • Serious illness or injury requiring hospitalization
  • Death in the immediate family
  • Natural disasters affecting travel
  • Unexpected military deployment
  • Court-ordered legal proceedings

Documentation Required

  • Medical certificate or hospital documentation
  • Death certificate (if applicable)
  • Official disaster declaration
  • Military orders
  • Court summons or legal documents

Emergency Refund Terms

  • Up to 90% refund with proper documentation
  • 10% administrative fee may apply
  • Case-by-case evaluation
  • Must be submitted within 72 hours of charter date

5. No-Show Policy

If you fail to arrive for your charter without prior notice:

  • No refund will be provided
  • Full charter fee is forfeited
  • Crew and vessel costs are non-recoverable
  • Grace period of 30 minutes maximum

6. Partial Service Refunds

6.1 Early Termination

If a charter is terminated early due to client request:

  • No refund for unused time
  • Full charter fee applies
  • Exception: Emergency situations with documentation

6.2 Service Issues

If service falls below our standards:

  • Immediate notification required during charter
  • Opportunity provided to rectify issues
  • Partial refund considered if issues cannot be resolved
  • Full investigation conducted post-charter

Refunds are processed using the original payment method:

  • Cash: Same day (if paid in cash)

8. Travel Insurance Recommendation

We Strongly Recommend Travel Insurance

To protect your investment in yacht charter experiences, we recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers:

  • Trip cancellation and interruption
  • Medical emergencies
  • Weather-related delays
  • Personal liability coverage

Travel insurance can provide additional protection beyond our refund policy and may cover circumstances not included in our standard terms.

9. Special Circumstances

9.1 Government Restrictions

In case of government-imposed restrictions (such as public health orders):

  • Full rescheduling without penalties
  • Option for full refund if rescheduling not possible
  • Handled on case-by-case basis

9.2 Vessel Mechanical Issues

If mechanical problems prevent the charter:

  • Alternative vessel offered when available
  • Full refund if no suitable alternative
  • Compensation for any inconvenience incurred

10. Dispute Resolution

If you disagree with a refund decision:

  1. Contact our customer service manager within 30 days
  2. Provide additional documentation if available
  3. We will review and respond within 5 business days
  4. Final decisions may be subject to mediation if requested
